I sometimes hear people using the word “program” and “software” while talking about computers or Internet. So far, I have not got the difference between them.

a program is a set of instructions that are designed to execute a specific task whereas a software is set of programs that are designed to work together inorder to perform a specific task or function. For example, Microsoft Office is a software because it includes M. Word, M. Excel, M.PowerPoint,… that can be considered as independent programs. Operating systems such as Microsoft Windows.
I think a program is a set of instructions that designed to execute a specific task whereas a software is set of many programs that are designed to work together so as to perform a specific task or function. For example, Microsoft Office is a software because it includes M. Word, M. Excel, M.PowerPoint,… that can be considered as independent programs. Operating systems such as Microsoft Windows (Windows 7, 8, 10), Mac Os are also softwares. Android for Android devices, or iOS for iPhones are also softwares. Examples of programs may include Google Chrome,Mozilla Firefox, Opera, …. In few words, a software is bigger than a program.
