Pre-writing or planning of writing: It is the first step in writing which is mainly concerned with all the thinking and planning of what you are going to write. In pre-writing, you choose your topic, identify your audience and purpose, brainstorm ideas, conduct research, and organize your information.
Drafting: In this stage, you create the first draft of your text by writing your ideas in sentences and paragraphs. Simply, it involves getting ideas and supporting details down on paper in a rough form.
Revising: This stage involves making changes that will improve your writing and deals with the paper as a whole. Revising involves adding, removing, rearranging, replacing, or changing details; strengthening word choice, reordering content, and correcting grammatical errors. Simply, revising involves rethinking, reviewing, and rewriting the content in order to improve the text, focus, and structure.
Editing and Proofreading: In this stage, it is where you polish your essay. You check your writing line by line for errors. It is on a sentence level, addressing problems with spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity in sentence structure, appropriate word choice, removing repeated words and accurate document format.
Publishing: It is the final stage which refers to sharing the final copy of your writing to the audience. Publishing comes in many different forms depending on the purpose and audience.
